Stage: Maturing Disciple
Set: Seven Commands of Jesus

Trigger Topic
Observation
Practical Response
201 Observe the Lord's Supper
A maturing disciple will celebrate the Lord's Supper with other believers to remember the work of Christ, His sacrifice for us, and to renew love for Him and the Body of Christ.
This week or as soon as possible celebrate the Lord's Supper with a faith community. Read again the story of our Lord's last supper in the texts.
202 Love God and neighbor
A maturing disciple will love God, with all his being, and others, both Christian and nonchristian.
Practice telling God you love Him daily and showing love by walking in obedience to Him. Show love to a fellow believer by praying for him or her, and meeting his/her needs in practical ways such as helping the person with a project at home, giving to a financial need, spending time with the person and/or helping with some burden the person may have.
203 Give
A maturing disciple will give generously of all that God has entrusted to him as a manager. He should give freely and cheerfully God's work and needy people.
Start a plan of regular giving to the Lord's work through your church.
204 Repent and believe in Jesus
The first act of obedience for the maturing disciple of Christ is to obey His command to repent and believe the Good News - i.e., to change his mind about Jesus and himself and turn from his old life and put his trust in Him following Him as his Lord and master.
Trusting Christ as your Savior and Lord starts with inviting Him into your life. You can pray a prayer similar to this. Remember, becoming a real Christian is not just saying words, but receiving a person - Christ. --- "Dear Lord, I know I have done wrong. I am willing to turn from my sins, I believe Jesus Christ died for me, please come into my life and forgive me of my sins. I reieve you into my life as my Savior and Lord as best I know how, right now. Amen."
205 Be baptized
A maturing disciple will follow Christ's example and His command to be baptized after trusting in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. (New Testament baptism is by immersion in water in the "name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.")
After you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. Take the next step of obedience by following Him in believer's baptism; ask a spiritual leader to baptize you by immersion in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
206 Make Disciples
A maturing disciple will begin to make disciples (including evangelism, teaching obedience, shepherding and training believers for ministry)
Begin to pray for a person or persons to disciple. This week talk to him/her/them about their need to grow in the Lord, and ask him/her/them if the two (or more) of you could get together, pray and study God's word together on a regular basis.
207 Pray Daily
A maturing disciple will follow the example of our Lord Jesus who regularly set aside time to commune with His Father. In that time, a disciple will praise Him, thank Him, confess sin to God, and intercede for fellow believers and the world.
Make a prayer list of people and things you can pray for regularly. Learn the ACTS method of praying: A - Adoration; C - Confession; T - Thankgiving; S - Supplication.
